EAU CLAIRE, Wis. — A nearly six-hour stand-off at an Eau Claire motel this morning ended without injury when police arrested a man who had claimed to be armed and holding a hostage.
The suspect is a Wausau man currently on parole. No weapon was found.
Police were called to Quality Inn sometime after eight AM to investigate a report of a disturbance. Officers made contact with the man but he reportedly shoved the door shut and locked it.
Authorities re-established contact sometime after noon and confirmed a female was also in the room, but they were unsure whether she was being held against her will.
Around two PM a SWAT team distracted the man with a stun grenade and stormed the room. The man was captured without injury and the woman was also unharmed.
