Phoenix, Ariz. police SWAT teams converged on a northeast Phoenix office building Tuesday looking for the gunman after two people were shot dead.
Police said the shootings occurred at an office complex known as St. Charles Place, 16042 N. 32nd St., a site near Paradise Lane, between Bell and Greenway roads.
The complex houses about eight businesses, including appraisal, insurance and mortgage firms, but police did not immediately say which had been targeted.
In the meantime, a Phoenix Fire Department official confirmed there were two dead in the still unfolding incident.
Sgt. Randy Force, a Phoenix police spokesman, said officers were looking for a gunman, about 33, believed to have been at the office complex.
As police surrounded the area, Force urged television stations not to broadcast helicopter shots showing where the officers were deployed.
It is believed that the gunman, possibly holed up in the complex, may have access to a television, Force explained.
The shooting was reported about 7:24 a.m., resulting in significant street closures throughout the area. Nearby schools -- Arrowhead and Palomino elementary schools and Greenway Middle School -- are in lockdown, as is the office of the Paradise Valley Unified School District.
