PARIS -- France has alerted Interpol about a French army deserter who is known as a marksman and is missing in North America. A Defense Ministry spokesman said there was speculation of a link to the investigation into the Washington-area sniper.
MISSOURI - A driver on I-70 shot another driver and caused him to crash. He died and others were injured as a result of the accident. This took place this past Wednesday. We also have reports of shots taken at police officers. Shooter is still at large.
CALIFORNIA - According to KTLA television, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a possible copycat sniper shooting at a golf course in the La Verne area. Witnesses say they heard a shot fired and thudding impact on a nearby tree at the eighth tee of the Marshall Canyon Course. No one was injured. The golfers described seeing a man with a rifle in a nearby parking lot.
OHIO - Two vehicles hit by random shots on Tuesday evening on I-71 near the Ohio 95 interchange in Morrow County, about 50 miles north of Columbus. No injuries. Ohio State Highway Patrol investigators haven’t ruled out the possibility that the shots could have been the work of a sniper copycat, a spokesman said.
NEW YORK - Police are still investigating three random shootings in one area near Christopher Morley Park, just off the Long Island Expressway. The shooting occurred last weekend.
