NEW YORK — Video has been released capturing a plainclothes officer kicking a fellow cop in the head as police arrest a suspect at a subway station.

NBC New York reports the incident occurred in January, but the video garnered attention this week after it was obtained and released by website DNAinfo.

A uniformed officer and an undercover officer were attempting to arrest a suspected fare-dodger at Coney Island’s Stillwell Avenue station when multiple other officers arrived at the scene. In the chaos, a plainclothes officer kicked a colleague in the head as officers fought with the suspect on the ground.

The officer who was kicked was pulled away from the scuffle as multiple officers continued to attempt to gain control of the combative suspect, who was eventually arrested.

The New York Daily News reports the incident is under investigation by the NYPD’s Internal Affairs Bureau. The department declined to comment.
