WHITING, Ind. — A woman is facing several criminal charges for stealing a police car after being arrested for prostitution at a Lake Station, Ind. truck stop, authorities said.

Cara Ann Moynihan, 42, ran from police June 8 after an officer responding to a call of a prostitute in the parking lot at Flying J asked her to step out of the bunk area of a semi.

Moynihan was handcuffed and put into the back seat of a police car. But while the officer spoke to the trucker, Moynihan got into the front seat and drove away, police said.

Another officer saw the police car turning into a nearby truck stop, and witnesses said they saw a woman with had a pair of handcuffs hanging from one hand running into the truck stop and through the parking lot.

Moynihan was shocked with a Taser when she refused to listen to the officer’s commands, police said.

She was taken to a hospital complaining of pain, and a blood test showed she had numerous drugs in her system. She was charged with escape, auto theft, resisting law enforcement, drug possession and drunken driving.
