MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A motorist fire two shots at a vehicle in which a Milwaukee police officer was driving to work, hitting the windshield, authorities said.
Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Kim Brooks said Friday that the shooting took place Thursday at 11:40 p.m. on Interstate 94 east of the Stadium Interchange.
The assailant fired the shots after starting to tailgate the officer’s car, and shattered glass hit the officer in the face, she said.
The injured officer was able to keep the car in sight as he called for assistance, and sheriff’s department deputies and suburban Glendale police apprehended him on Milwaukee’s west side, Brooks said.
She said numerous weapons, including a pellet gun, were recovered.
