(BOSTON) – Boston police are warning the public of a man who allegedly robbed two people by posing as a plainclothes officer.
A spokesman says that Anthony J. Ciappina, 35, of Revere approached his victims, told them he was an officer and asked for identification. When they brought out their wallets, he allegedly grabbed their money and fled.
Police officers are required to produce a badge or photo identification when requested, the spokesman said.
