KFMB TV-News, San Diego

San Diego police reported that a man suspected of killing a Merced, Calif. police officer managed to slip away from police, who surrounded an Oak Park home in the belief that he was holed up inside.

Detectives learned the suspect, Cuitlahuac Tahua Rivera -- aka Tao and Bullet -- was in a home in the 6300 block of College Grove Way and called for Special Weapons And Tactics team about 11:45 p.m. Friday, San Diego police Sgt. Rich Nemetz said.

Police tried to coax the man out of the home, but when they went in about 5:45 a.m., the suspect was gone, Nemetz said.

Rivera, 21, considered armed and dangerous, is suspected of killing Officer Stephan Gray after a traffic stop on April 15, authorities said. He is Latino, about 5 feet 8 inches and 190 pounds, with “MGC” and “2DAS” tattooed on his left forearm, according to Merced police.
