Arlington, Texas police fatally shot a man driving a Ford Bronco that had been reported stolen from Forest Hill near Fort Worth Wednesday morning, officials said.
The man, who has not been identified, had attempted to steal several other vehicles as part of a pursuit with Fort Worth police and later with Arlington police that involved heavy gunfire, officials said.
“As soon as we got into this [chase], he started shooting,” said Sgt. Will Johnson, an Arlington police spokesman.

The man pulled into the Rivercrest Village Apartments off of Green Oaks Boulevard in northern Arlington, where he was shot and killed.
“He had his window down and a gun in his left hand. They [police] were right behind him,” said Glen Fulcher, 46, who stepped out onto his apartment balcony when he heard the gunfire. “It was so unreal. It was something off of TV. The shots were so loud.”
Marie Johnson was in her apartment watching Jerry Springer when she heard the gunshots and went outside to find officers with their guns drawn and a police cruiser smoking after being struck by a bullet.
“It was crazy,” she said.
Orange cones were sprinkled throughout the apartment complex to mark shell casings and other evidence as police continued to investigate. A long-barrel gun lay on the ground next to the open Bronco door. Officers were also searching for evidence at four other locations throughout the city.
