Two girls from Maysville, Tenn. have been reported missing and are believed to be headed for California.
Jeanne Rohrig, 14, and her friend Whitney Irvin,15, were last seen in Maysville, KY, Saturday. They reportedly took a taxi to Lexington and then boarded a bus for California.
A man in California allegedly mailed a package to one of the teens, which included fake identification cards and bus tickets for both girls, plus $300.
Investigators said that tips have been pouring into the Maysville Police Department over the last couple of days. “We heard people saw them hitchhiking near the interstate,” Maysville Detective Justin Horsh said. “We’ve also heard from someone who claims to have seen them in Lexington.” David Evangelista of the Internet Crime Task Force said authorities across the country are looking for the girls.
Rohrig (pictured, above right) is described as being about 5 feet 7 inches tall and approximately 140 pounds. Irvin (above left is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and about 110 pounds.
