MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Two Shelby County, Tenn. sheriff’s deputies were shot Monday while serving a drug warrant at an apartment building just outside Memphis.

Steve Shular, a sheriff’s department spokesman, said the injuries suffered by the two did not appear to be life-threatening.

“We think the officers are going to be OK. They were talking and alert,” Shular said.

The officers were with a SWAT team that was serving the warrant about 2 p.m.

Shular said shots from inside the apartment hit the officers as they tried to enter the residence at the Hickory Pointe Apartment Homes. The authorities didn’t return fire, he said.

Four people were arrested at the apartment.

On Thursday, two Memphis police officers were shot while attempting to serve a search warrant in a different drug case.
