A Lancaster police officer is hurt during a chase through the city Tuesday.
The chase began on the Walnut Street exit off Route 30 in East Lampeter Township a little before 7 p.m., but it ended in front of the Lancaster City Police Station on Chestnut Street.
The driver, Tarik Hobbs, 23, of Philadelphia, is custody.
News 8 reported that the chase started when a pickup truck was pulled over by police.
A women, who did not want her name given, told News 8 what happened next.
“They got pulled over because they said something about the side view mirror. Something was wrong with the mirror. So it was just a regular traffic. Then they ran the names and they found out the passenger side person has warrants,” the woman said.
When they realized the passenger was wanted by police, police called for more backup.
“When the other two officers pulled up, the passenger side guy pushed my friend out of the car, out of the driver’s seat and took off in the car,” the woman said.
Police said the man led them on a chase through the city, sometimes going the wrong way on one-way streets, disregarding what was in his way.
Sgt. Timothy Peters was treated for minor injuries at Lancaster General Hospital and released.
