MADISON, Wis. — Two men caught and held a burglary suspect by literally sitting on him until police arrived.
The suspect, Chad Walsvick, 27, of Madison, was tentatively charged with disorderly conduct and booked on outstanding warrants and a probation violation following the incident at about 8:30 p.m. Friday on the baseball diamond adjacent to Olbrich Gardens on Madison’s east side.
According to Madison police reports, the suspect was observed by a couple rummaging through the woman’s purse inside her parked car.
The couple was outside the car at the time, about 45 feet away.
When they realized what was happening, the woman’s fiance confronted the suspect and tried to pin him down in the car, while the woman called police. The suspect fled from the car and started running.
Another man watching the scene unfold joined the chase, with the two men catching the suspect and holding him, one on top of the suspect’s legs, the other on his torso.
