TUCSON, Ariz. — The driver an officer pulled over for a traffic violation turned out to be his boss.
The Associated Press reports that on March 26, a Tucson officer pulled over a dark-colored SUV for running a red light. After walking up to the SUV, the officer realized that the driver was his boss, Tucson Chief Chris Magnus, who was in uniform.
Magnus told the officer he thought the light was yellow and thanked him for doing his duty, according to the Arizona Daily Star. The chief said the officer did the right thing for pulling him over, though he still contends that the light was yellow.
Magnus said he was sure the officer didn’t realize it was him until after he was pulled over.
The officer gave Magnus a verbal warning and let him go.
