CHICKASHA, Okla. — After resigning over a racial slur shared on social media Aug. 21, Chickasha’s former police chief issued a public apology Friday.

Eddie Adamson shared his apology in an approximate 16-minute video he recorded himself. The apology stems from a video Adamson posted on his personal Facebook page referencing a scene in the comedy “Role Models.”

Adamson said the post originated on a rapper’s page and he did not realize it included the caption “How a real N-word order Starbucks.”

“That posting was wrong,” Adamson said. “I know that. It was an error I didn’t realize that it was there. I did not say it myself. I never would condone it being said. But it was. An error cannot be defended against. It can only be acknowledged and that’s what I’m doing. And I’m offering my sincerest and utmost apology to everyone that saw it and was offended.”
