We asked our Facebook fans what trends they expect or anticipate to take root in the coming year for their department — whether an internal issue or otherwise. 1.Over -militarization of our departments. — Ray Brock
2.Departments arming their officers with cameras to protect themselves from the ever growing public taping their (officers) every move. — Roger Fell
3.Off duty officers being asked not to carry weapons onto campuses from AZ to Texas. With continued threats these schools should be happy off - duty officers are there to act. — Eric Bruss
4.Beyond sensitivity training, trauma-informed police work. The training uses the ACEs study and will help officers better understand criminals and create better relationships. It also introduces a common language and can help prevent on-the-job trauma due to its aid in debriefings. — Jacqui Lynn
5.Marijuana and the effects it will have on training K-9s. Will we be training them on marijuana odor anymore? — Rob Avedisian
6.More restrictive use of force policy; restrictions on off-duty carry. — William S. Pitcher
7.I think it will be contact with civilians who want to video tape and or refuse to ID. Depending on how things go we may also see a public relations nightmare with our officers looking like soldiers and losing the support of the public leading to more negative contacts. —Thomas Trammell
