Many law enforcement officers suffer some kind of back discomfort or long-term problem over the course of their careers. You have so much necessary equipment on your belts that many of you are now wearing suspenders to alleviate strain on your backs.
Something you may not have paid any attention to is your wallet. We often have them stuffed with lots of important things, like ID cards, licenses, credit cards, medical cards, money, sometimes an extra badge, etc. to the point where it actually results in our bodies being higher on one side than the other when we are sitting down. Couple that with the heavy-duty seats in a police special patrol car and you will likely have a back problem over time.
There is a simple fix. Use two wallets, one in each back pocket. Have one for items you rarely need and another for the items you do need most of them time. Try to make sure they are about the same thickness to balance out your body weight when you sit.
Another added feature; if you fall on your butt, you have equal padding to cushion your fall!
I’m no doctor, so this is not medical advice, just common sense. If you have persistent back problems see your physician.
