JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Newly released body camera video shows what happened during a standoff between a knife-wielding suspect and the Jacksonville County Sheriff’s Office.
The standoff started when officers responded to a domestic violence call regarding a man terrorizing a woman with a knife, according to WJXT.
When officers arrived, they tried to get the suspect, identified as Matvey Klimenko, to surrender peacefully, but WJXT reports he refused.
The video shows the scene when Klimenko is out of the house during the standoff. As Klimenko holds up a knife and attempts to stab the K-9, an officer stopped him by fatally shooting him.
The sheriff’s office said Klimenko was in active violation of his probation for driving under the influence and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
