MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. — It did not take long for the township’s K-9 officer and his partner to be put to good use.
Officer T. Pacilio and his K-9 partner Cyrus helped to recover items stolen in a burglary as the pair were en route home from the Philadelphia K-9 Academy Patrol Dog Course.
The two were among those dispatched to the 1400 block of Trenton Avenue about 1:40 p.m. Friday for a reported burglary.
A Play Station 3, Xbox 360, jewelry and cash were among the items stolen from the residence after a rear window was forced open, police said.
The burglar left footprints behind in the snow that had fallen earlier on Friday, police noted.
Pacilio and Cyrus followed the footprints and a scent to the 200 block of Crystal Drive, police said.
The stolen items were discovered inside one residence.
Jonathan P. Lopez, 27, of Crystal Drive was charged with receiving stolen property. He also was served with a warrant from Washington Township.
Lopez was committed to the Gloucester County Jail, Woodbury in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
