CHICAGO — In honor of the launch of the Illinois Lottery’s annual Blue Police Memorial ticket, the Illinois Lottery is partnering with retailers to thank first responders who are protecting Illinoisans amid the global health pandemic.

Through this partnership, area healthcare workers, EMTs, firefighters, and police officers will receive a free coffee at participating retailers. This offer will be available from May 5 to May 31, first responders just need to show their badge or ID.

Profits from the Blue Police Memorial instant ticket are used to help fund police memorials and commemorations and to provide scholarships and financial assistance to the families of fallen officers injured in the line of duty.

“Our police officers, healthcare workers, EMTs, and firefighters are on the frontlines of protecting our communities,” said Illinois Lottery Acting Director Harold Mays. “More than ever, we are thankful for their service. Their selfless work shows that Illinois is full of winners.”

Profits from the Blue Police Memorial ticket are used to build and maintain police memorials, hold annual police commemorations, and provide scholarships and financial assistance to the families of fallen officers or officers injured in the line of duty.
