DETROIT — An off-duty Highland Park reserve police officer was shot in the stomach early today in a drive-by shooting at a block party on Detroit’s east side.
Detroit Police Officer Jennifer Moreno said the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 19700 block of Teppert St. The shots were fired from nearby Manning Street during the party, Moreno said.
The officer was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in the stomach, but Moreno said he’s been upgraded to stable condition.
Moreno said no suspect information is available and police have not made any arrests yet.
“It’s a very active and open investigation and we definitely need the community’s help on this one,” Moreno said.
