STONE PARK, Ill. — An officer has died as a result of complications from injuries sustained during a disturbance call in 2005.
According to ODMP, Officer George Nissen suffered a head injury after being thrown to the ground while attempting to break up a large bar fight.
The officer, who had suffered a concussion, underwent multiple surgeries. A complication during treatment resulted in the officer becoming a paraplegic.
The officer passed away March 12. He is survived by his daughter, according to the report.
