BRANCH COUNTY, Mich. — A deputy bucked off his horse during a Memorial Day parade succumbed to his injuries Tuesday, FOX 17 reported.
Branch County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Michael Winter, 39, died from head injuries sustained when a horse threw him to the ground. The horse was spooked by a noise.
“He will be greatly missed by all of us his co-workers and fellow law enforcement family,” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. “We shall always remember him for his service to his country, to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office and to his family.”
The department was accepting donations to Winter’s family.
