MILLVILLE, N.J. — A Millville police officer was killed in a car accident early Sunday.
Officer Christopher Reeves and his partner, who was riding in the passenger seat, collided with another vehicle around 2:15 a.m while on patrol, NBC Philadelphia reported. Reeves died at the scene, and the other officer sustained minor injuries.
Reeves was a former Marine and eight-year veteran of the police department whose friends say had always dreamed of being a police officer.
“I like to think he died happy doing what he wanted to do,” Spencer Moore said.
In solemn remembrance of Reeves, all flags in the city are flying at half-staff. The crash is under investigation by New Jersey State Police.
