CASSELBERRY, Fla. — A Casselberry police officer has been suspended after a traffic accident in his patrol car and a positive urine test.
Officer Jeffrey Shumway, 27, was involved in the crash late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Neither he nor anyone else was hurt, according to Casselberry police Lt. Dennis Stewart.
Shumway has not been allowed to work since the crash. He was placed on administrative leave with pay.
Stewart would not say what the foreign substance was or provide details of the crash.
Shumway could not be reached. Stewart said Shumway had been at the department for about two years and was a road patrol officer.
