HONOLULU — A Honolulu police officer has been assigned to desk duty while he’s under investigation.

Roosevelt Blanco is facing possible jail time for some illegal New Year’s Eve celebrating.

Blanco has been arrested on suspicion of reckless endangerment. He was picked up after police received word that a man was firing several guns into the air at his home to mark the new year.

The 37-year-old Blanco has been a police officer for three years. He’s been released on his own recognizance.

If charged and found guilty of the felony crime, he could face up to five years in jail.

Witnesses say he used two pistols and a rifle to shoot bullets into the air.
