Suspect fatally shot after opening fire on 2 Mich. officers

After responding to a call and finding no trouble, officers began to leave the scene when a suspect opened fire from the street

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — An investigation by multiple police agencies has been launched to find out more about a fatal officer-involved shooting.

According to Fox17, officers received a call of a man being held at gunpoint. When they arrived on the scene, the residents said no one called the police.

After checking the home and finding no signs of trouble, the officers began to leave when an unknown suspect opened fire from the street. The officers took cover, returning fire. It is not known how many times the suspect was shot, the station reported.

Police recovered two handguns from the suspect. The unknown man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
