BURBANK, Calif. — Two police officers were shot while responding to reports of a shoplifter at a Burbank Kmart, a law enforcement source told The Times.
The source said the incident occurred while the officers were escorting a petty theft suspect out of the store. It’s unclear whether the suspect opened fire with a gun he had or took one of the officers’ weapons.
The officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
