EATON, Ohio — Recently released dash cam shows the moment an officer was run over by a semi truck on the side of the road, KTLA reported.
The Jan. 8 collision took place as Capt. Brad Moore of the Preble County Sheriff’s Office was directing traffic after a wreck.
Moore was guiding the big rig off to the side of the road, but it had stopped on train tracks. The track arms came down as a train fast approached which knocked the big rig forward and sent it out of control.
“I remember seeing the train hit the trailer and then I felt the impact of the semi,” Moore told the news site. “My left hand and arm got caught up in the right front tire and that’s kind of what — you see me barrel rolling, shot me out.”
Moore was taken to a hospital for treatment of two gashes on his head and a broken left hand, resulting in 25 stitches.
“It’s a miracle I mean it really is. I mean it’s very ... makes you think a lot. It’s one of those that a foot this way, a foot that way, no bush, it could have been really bad. So I’m very lucky. Very fortunate,” Moore said.
