FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. — An officer stayed in the fight Wednesday and shot a driver who dragged him under his truck.

According to a police account of the incident, a man driving a pickup followed Olivia Molinar home after she passed him in traffic early that morning, The Denver Post reported. When she arrived at her mobile home and saw the truck pull into an open parking spot nearby, she frantically called her husband, Sergio Anaya, who came outside and rushed her into the trailer.

“She was scared, very, very scared,” Anaya said.

The couple promptly called 911, and two Federal Heights officers were dispatched. Upon arrival, the two officers approached the suspect from either side of the pickup, police said. The driver hit the gas, striking one officer with the truck, which rammed into the home.

The second officer, who was not just knocked down, but also dragged between the truck and the pavement, was able to free himself and shoot the suspect, police said. Several shots were fired as the suspect drove away from the area, where several fences on adjacent properties were left smashed.

Anaya said at point during the chaos, he looked out the window and saw an officer laying in the street. A truck parked nearby was pushed onto a neighbor’s lawn.

One officer was treated at the scene, police said. The other was transported to the hospital and has since been released.
