FORT WORTH, Texas - Police are investigating after a shooting left a suicidal man dead.
Fort Worth police received information from police in Florida about a man in the area who was posting suicidal comments on social media and had a gun, Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Police located the man in his vehicle by tracing his phone and attempted a welfare check. Multiple shots hit an officer’s windshield, but no officers or bystanders were injured.
The suspect was killed in his car, but it’s still unknown if he died as a result of the crash, police gunfire or a self-inflicted gunshot.
The man may have had family ties to Florida, but it’s unknown if he lives in Fort Worth, police spokesman Sgt. Chris Britt said at a press conference.
Multiple weapons were found in the vehicle.
