LOS ANGELES — The LAPD released body cam footage of an officer shooting at a suspect running from police.
On Tuesday, the department released the footage of the May 21 shooting, KTLA reported. The shooting occurred after police observed two men standing in front of a location and believed they were involved in gang activity, according to the LAPD.
Officer Joshua Parker and his partner tried to contact two men before one of them, identified as 20-year-old Kevin Palencia, fled with a firearm in his hand, according to police.
While pursuing the suspect, Parker fired at Palencia before the suspect was taken into custody. Palencia was not injured or struck by gunfire, police said.
Police said Palencia’s firearm wasn’t found at the scene, but police did recover a loaded magazine at the scene.
No officers were injured.
