MAYBROOK, N.Y. — Body camera footage shows last week’s shootout that wounded Police Chief Arnold Amthor.
Police responded to a domestic disturbance Tuesday where they discovered Anthony Bostick inside his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, the Times-Herald Record reported.
Officers entered the apartment when they believed Bostick became suicidal, District Attorney David Hoovler said.
One officer was initially armed with a TASER, but was told to go lethal when police got closer to where Bostick was. Bostick opened fire on police and wounded Amthor.
Officers returned fire after the chief was shot.
In the video, an officer can be heard saying, “He [Bostick] just shot himself.” The officers are then seen retreating from the apartment.
After surrounding the home for several hours, police entered and found Bostick dead from a gunshot wound. It’s unclear whether the gunshot was self-inflicted.
Amthor was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder and released.
An investigation is ongoing.
