PEMBROKE, Mass. — A family in Pembroke received one of the best Christmas presents this season thanks to the work by a Massachusetts State trooper.
During his commute home on Christmas, Trooper David Phan noticed cars swerving on Route 3 in Duxbury to avoid something near the center line of the road, police said. As he got closer, Phan realized the cars were avoiding a golden retriever.
With the help of others who stopped, Phan slowed traffic and they were able to get the dog into his cruiser, police said. The dog, named Willow, was wet but unharmed.
Phan located Willow’s family, who had been searching for the dog. Willow was returned to her family in Pembroke on Christmas by Phan, police said.
