This week’s photo of the week comes from Deputy David M. Sparnroft of the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia. Deputy Sparnroft took this photo during the funeral for NYPD Detective Wenjian Liu, who was slain along with his partner, Rafael Ramos, in an ambush attack. Deputy Sparnroft was in awe of the thousands of cops from across the nation who lined the streets in memory of a fallen brother. Beyond his career in law enforcement, Deputy Sparnroft has further ties to the NYPD - he was born in New York and his grandfather served over 20 years as an NYPD detective. Deputy Sparnroft says the picture serves as a powerful reminder: no matter the patch on your shoulder, we are all one family.
