LEEDS, Ala. — A photo of a sheriff’s deputy holding an infant with the aftermath of an ambulance, semi-tractor and three-car vehicle collision behind him is going viral on social networks and news media.
There were no serious injuries and the patient in the ambulance at the time of the collision was transported in another ambulance, reported AL.com.
Deputy Ric Lindley, 60, was photographed comforting the infant girl and carrying her to a safe location.
“I did nothing heroic,’' Lindley told AL.com. “All I did was hold a baby.”
Lindley, a former U.S. Army Green Beret and Army medical officer, is a father and grandfather. He has received accolades from friends and family, as well as hundreds of positive comments on the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
“I have said many times I wished somehow everyone knew how good they really were,’' Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale said of the deputy sheriffs. “This deputy is part of the family I’m referring to and we are especially proud of the recognition he is getting today for this simple act of care and kindness.”
