Terminally ill Wis. girl visited by almost 40 PDs, K-9s

HARTLAND, Wis. — A terminally ill Wisconsin girl who loves dogs was able to spend a day with K-9 officers over the weekend.

Emma Mertens, 7, was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma, a rare, inoperable brain tumor, local news station Fox 29 reports.

Since her diagnosis, Emma has received countless photos and letters from friends and supporters to help cheer her up.

Saturday, Emma was met by K-9 officers from close to 40 different police departments at her home.

“There are no words....Pure Joy!” Emma’s support Facebook page posted. “Thank you to everyone who took the time to organize and participate in this. Emma is still all smiles!”
