KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A police officer’s quick reaction time likely saved the life of a driver shortly after she was stopped for a red light violation.

Fox 17 reports Officer Jason Gates initiated a traffic stop on August 9th after witnessing a driver run a red light.

As Officer Gates approached the vehicle, he realized the driver was suffering respiratory distress.

The officer performed the Heimlich maneuver on the driver and dislodged a sausage and bun from her throat.

As seen in the dash cam, the driver breaks down into tears and embraces the officer – thanking him for the rescue.
