RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh officer talked a 16-year-old girl off a bridge with sign language, WNCN reported.
A North Carolina Department of Transportation camera picked up the Feb. 16 incident, while witnesses and the girl’s father watched the officer communicate with her for thirty minutes.
“It’s good that he knew sign language, I feel like more people need to learn it,” witness Sean Day said to WNCN. “It shows that he had a lot of patience and he didn’t let whatever he had on his mind interfere with what was going on.”
The teen was on a ledge over an interstate. She came down unharmed.
The officer, who is not being identified, always seems to “be in the right place to save the day,” his father told the news site.
