LOS LUNAS, N.M. — Footage from a body camera showed an officer’s act of kindness, KRQE reported.
Officer Mark Gurule is being recognized by his department for buying shoes and socks for a barefoot homeless man.
The incident began on Oct. 31 when the officer was on patrol and spotted the man sleeping without any shoes on. The officer went to a nearby store to purchase shoes and socks for the man.
When Gurule returned to drop the gifts off, the man was thankful and smiled as he tried on the shoes.
Gurule also gave the man $20 to buy food.
The two shook hands and parted ways.
