GROESBECK, Texas — A chief was in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was struck by an 18-wheeler Tuesday morning, KXXV reported.
Chief Chris Henson was directing traffic when the collision occurred. He had just finished crossing duties at a nearby school when he went to direct traffic.
Henson had directed the driver of the 18-wheeler to turn left and the back of the trailer struck the chief.
“Everybody that was at the intersection immediately got out of their vehicles and ran out there,” eyewitness Sonya Gordon told the news site.
Officials said Henson was awake and talking when taken in the ambulance. He was expected to make a full recovery.
The incident is under investigation.
