Off-duty Okla. officer in take-home car collision

The Associated Press

GLENPOOL, Okla. — Tulsa police are investigating an accident involving an off-duty police officer driving his patrol car in Glenpool.

Police say officer Ron Jordan of Glenpool was not in uniform and had his 15-year-old son and a woman in the car with him when he crashed into the rear of another car on U.S. Highway 75.

Jordan was treated at a hospital for a sore neck and headache after the collision while the other driver may have a concussion.

Police say witnesses told officers the patrol car passed them at a high speed in the 65 mile per hour zone then hit the second car.

Tulsa police allow officers to drive their patrol cars home but a proposed change would prohibit officers who live outside Tulsa from taking the cars home.
