Before going on patrol with a partner, have codes rehearsed to use between officers. For example, if you are on a consent search of a vehicle and find something, pass the code to your partner so he knows the subjects he is watching WILL be getting arrested. When I am on patrol, searching a car and find dope I ask my partner “what time are we going to eat.” He knows right away that someone is going to jail and he can get into a better position. Also, when on a stop and if the driver or passenger(s) have a gun pointed on me, I will call my partner by a different name and he knows things are going bad.
