WEST FARGO, N.D. — A North Dakota officer went above and beyond for a family stranded in the middle of town in frigid temperatures.

West Fargo Pioneer reports that Alyssa Gallegos and her family became stranded after their truck ran out of gas Saturday. The family waited for help amid -28 fahrenheit windchill when Officer Aaron Ostlund went to check up on them.

The officer offered to take them to the nearest gas station to make sure they were safe. Gallegos said Ostlund then offered to pay for their gas.

“He put it on his card and I offered to pay him cash back, and he said ‘don’t worry about it’. Just helped us out that way,” said Nick Lindell.

Ostlund even took a picture with the family and offered them stickers. Gallegos posted about their encounter on Facebook, which has been widely shared.

Those who know Ostlund said this isn’t anything out of the ordinary for him.

“More concerned than he needed to be, and that’s what I appreciated the most,” Gallegos said.
