MONTEBELLO, Calif. — Newly released surveillance and body camera footage shows a suspect ramming into two unmarked detective vehicles with his car before an officer-involved shooting left him injured, KABC reported.

The shooting happened on Oct. 31 after detectives were conducting surveillance on a man they believed was responsible for shooting a woman in September.

As detectives were conducting surveillance on the suspect, identified as Oscar Alejandro Ramires, 33, he left his home and drove to a nearby gas station, according to the report.

Surveillance footage from the gas station shows the unmarked police vehicles approach Ramires’ vehicle from behind, while a marked squad car cuts off his exit route from the front.

Ramires can be seen attempting to escape the standoff by hitting several vehicles, both police cars and bystander vehicles. One detective was ejected from a minivan, at which point he fired several shots into Ramires’ car.

Ramires drove away to a nearby parking garage where he was found and arrested, body camera footage shows. He was taken to the hospital to treat multiple gunshot wounds. One officer sustained minor injuries in the vehicle incident, according to the report.
