ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) - Two men who led police in a car chase after they allegedly shot out several car windows with a pellet-type gun were killed when their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into an icy creek.
The driver, 20-year-old Nicholas Bishop, and 20-year-old passenger Jean Wisny both died in the crash Saturday. A third person, who was not identified, was injured and taken to a local hospital.
A police officer had responded to several vandalism calls in north Fulton County shortly before 1 a.m. and saw a silver-colored car driving off from the scene. The officer drove after them, but he lost track of the vehicle when he opted not to drive over 50 mph on the icy roads, said Fulton County Police Maj. Gary Stiles.
The suspects later drove by two other police cars, who began chasing them at relatively low speeds, Stiles said.
Bishop somehow lost control of the car and drove into a “swampy area” off the road, he added. Officers found the vehicle partially submerged.
