After helping to evacuate hundreds in Katrina’s wake, Sgt. Paul Accardo, the well-known media spokesperson for the New Orleans PD, killed himself. The pressures that drove Paul to desperation, and ultimately death, are those that continue to bear down on the rescue workers and residents still standing in the wake of the hurricane.
