PHOENIX (AP) -- A 38-year-old man was shot and killed by police after he went after officers with a two-by-four, Phoenix police said.
Family members called 911 on Monday night, saying Dewayne Begay was trying to kick down the door of their apartment. They said they had locked him out earlier after he had punched his 18-year-old daughter.
When officers arrived, Begay was angry and intoxicated, police said. He refused repeatedly to put down the two-by-four and instead advanced toward the officers, police said.
The officers shot the man, who later died at a hospital.
