Jefferson County, Colo. -- Police on Wednesday identified Fredrick W. Dorrough as the man who was wounded by Jefferson County SWAT officers during an exchange of gunfire at his home Tuesday.
Dorrough, 55, remained in critical condition at a local hospital from gunshot wounds, sheriff’s officials said in a news release.
Public records and Colorado Medical Licensing Board records show a Fredrick W. Dorrough is an anesthesiologist practicing in Englewood. The doctor, who was first licensed to practice medicine in July 1981, does not have a criminal record, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
Dorrough and his family could not be reached late Wednesday. People at the Englewood medical office could not be reached for comment.
In Tuesday’s incident, police said the man pointed a gun at West Metro Fire paramedics and threatened deputies who came to his house on a medical request for his wife.
Police said the man shot at the SWAT team during their attempt to remove a deputy from the perimeter of the house, in the 6000 block of Willow Springs Drive.
No deputies were wounded during the shooting.
The Jefferson County Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the shooting to determine the number of shots fired by the SWAT officers.
