Clayton, Mo. (AP) -- A St. Louis County man was shot by police after pointing a gun at officers, a police spokesman said Thursday.
The shooting happened late Wednesday following a confrontation outside the man’s home in south St. Louis County.
The man’s wife called police after he allegedly grabbed a shotgun and threatened to kill himself. Police surrounded the home. Police spokesman Mason Keller said an officer fired his weapon after the man pointed his gun at officers.
The man was hit in the hand, but the injury was not serious. He was taken into custody and was expected to be sent to a psychiatric hospital for evaluation.
The names of the suspect and the officer were not released.
